I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while, but life, uhhhh, gets in the way.
Introducing the SouthPad V2!
This was the design I originally wanted for the SouthPad, but without knowing if it would sell or not, I didn’t want to invest too much into the product. Now I’m offering this left-handed, mirrored, discrete numberpad with hotswap sockets, plate-mountable switches, optional custom keycaps from Signature Plastics, and an optional USB-C cable. It will still come with QMK compatibility, but will also launch and be preloaded with VIA support! VIA support means that you can remap your keys without needing to learn any sort of coding, you just go to UseVia.app, let the site see your SouthPad, and you can change the keys to whatever you want through their web interface!
Best of all, it’s at an even lower price than what the original SouthPad was offered at!
The new case has been largely redesigned to reduce much of the “ping” sound the original case had and installs the screws from the bottom so they’re no longer visible on your desktop. It also includes a 3D printed plate to ensure your 3-pin switches maintain proper alignment.
This numberpad isn’t just for left-handed people. I’m right-handed and love to be able to use my mouse in my right hand while doing number entry with my left hand using this. It’s the whole reason I originally designed it!
